  • Legal Role
    • Manage, monitor and supervise matters under his/her area of responsibilities with the objective of ensuring that legal and financial exposure are mitigated & other risks are minimized and the most favorable outcomes are achieved;
    • Prepare, develop, review, monitor and enhance agreements/legal documents and ensure all legal documents and advisory produced by the unit are registered and kept in accordance with the Legal Division’s policies and procedures;
    • Advise and provide legal opinion based on thorough research and study of the latest legal development and take into account Company’s business need and direction.
    • Develop, review, monitor and enhance Legal Division’s policies and procedures and provide training to stakeholders as and when required;
    • Attend all meetings, discussions and negotiation with internal clients as well as with external parties as the case may be pertaining to the subject matter assigned as well as preparation of the minutes of meeting or notes of discussion post meeting.
    • Generally to assist the HOD/HOU on all matters related to the Legal Division as assigned by HOD/HOU as the case may be.
    • Lead project undertaken by the Legal Division and provide strategic legal advise and solution to the management and stakeholders on such project.
  • Compliance Role
    • Identify, plan, strategise, develop, manage and improvise compliance framework applicable to the Company;
    • Perform periodic review to identify, assess and prioritise the legal and regulatory requirements set out by regulators relevant to the Company;
    • Advise on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC), Personal Data Protection (PDP), competition, trade controls and other compliance related matters ;
    • Conduct full time in-house compliance checking on the Company’s operations and report any lapses and suspicious transactions;
    • Lead and conduct awareness and training on compliance for the management and employees of the Company;
    • Act as the liaison officer in relation to any compliance management related issues;
    • Assist HOD/HOU as the case may be in formulating relevant policies, procedures, processes, guidelines or manuals on the management of Legal and Compliance Risks and/or the management of the Legal Division’s processes; and
    • Other functional areas as may be allocated by the HOD/HOU.
  • In provisioning advice on legal and compliance, the Senior Legal Counsel is expected to:-
    • understand and interpret underlying trends in information emanating from different sources
    • thinks innovatively to develop creative legal options and solutions
    • appropriately manages any conflict between business ambition and applicable integrity standards
    • be accountable to the legal advice and/or documents provided and prepared by the unit
    • be able to advise departmental/divisional heads and internal stakeholders on legal and compliance issues and solutions
    • report and update the HOD/HOU on matters which has material impact to the Company or division or as and when requested, as the case may be
    • spot certain aspects of rules and regulations that can easily be overlooked
    • develop and maintain good working relation with stakeholders.

 

To be considered, you’ll need:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law and related fields.
  • Admission as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of legal experience, preferably in the telecommunication or technology industry and adequate experience as inhouse counsel is an added advantage.
  • Proven track record in handling commercial and technology contracts, litigation, and dispute resolution matters in Malaysia.
  • Experience in handling cross-border legal matters involving multiple jurisdictions, demonstrating adaptability to diverse legal and cultural environments.
  • Basic understanding of telecommunication business Including terrestrial and subsea network Is an added advantage
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong leadership, collaborative and team-building abilities to lead a team effectively and collaborate across departments
