Data Center Engineer
The position reports to the Head, Facility, Region
Job Overview:
The Data Center/CLS Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of data center and Cable Landing Station (CLS) infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, reliability, and scalability of systems to support business operations. The engineer will work closely with IT, facilities, Sales team and network teams to deliver secure and efficient data center/Cable Landing Station services.
Your work life:
- Resource Management
- Manage resources to support Data Center/CLS Operation and Maintenance activities as well as ensure timely project delivery
- Data center/ CLS Management and Execution
- Monitor data center/ CLS performance, capacity, and availability.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Manage power, cooling, and environmental controls to maintain optimal operating conditions.
- Design and roll out for Data Center/CLS expansion.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Use monitoring tools to track system health, performance, and resource utilization.
- Support capacity planning and future expansion projects
- Work with cross-functional teams to support Data Center/CLS projects and business initiatives.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Document processes, configurations, and incident reports.
- Maintain and update Data Center and CLS inventory.
- Ensure proper project planning, tracking and closure, including invoicing stages.
- Plan and implement risk response actions, define contingency measures, and continuously monitor risks.
- Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders on planned activities.
- Oversee and monitor appointed contractors’ performance under Data Center/CLS
- Strategic Vendor Partnership
- Leverage vendor expertise by tapping into their global knowledge base.
- Practice effective vendor management to ensure delivery and compliance
To be considered, you’ll need:
- Bachelor's Degree (with honours) in Electronics/Communications/Electrical/related fields. Majoring in Telecommunication Engineering would be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of Project Management/Business Management.
- Good knowledge of Data Center and Cable Landing Station Design, Operation and Maintenance
- Possess certification on Data Center Design, Operation and maintenance will be advantage.
- Minimum 3 Years of experience In Data Center/ CLS working environment
