Internship - TechOps Engineer (Retail IT)

Job Overview:

Gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced corporate IT environment to join our dynamic retail IT team at TIME. In this frontline role, you will be responsible for providing first-level technical support, resolving user issues, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of IT systems. You’ll work closely with internal teams to escalate and track issues, maintain documentation, and contribute to continuous service improvement 

Your work life:

  1. User Support
    • Assist in responding to user queries via ticketing systems, email, or chat
    • Support basic troubleshooting for software, hardware, and access-related issues
    • Provide guidance to users using documented solutions and FAQs
  2. Incident & Issue Handling
    • Log, categorize, and track incidents and service requests
    • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers with proper documentation
  3. System Monitoring
    • Monitor system dashboards and alerts under supervision
    • Identify and report anomalies or potential issues
    • Assist in ensuring system availability and performance
  4. Access & Account Management
    • Support user access provisioning and de-provisioning tasks
    • Assist in maintaining access records and permissions
    • Learn best practices in identity and access management (RBAC)
  5. Documentation & Knowledge Base
    • Help create and update user guides, SOPs, and troubleshooting documents
  6. Collaboration
    • Work closely with TechOps, Engineering, and Support teams 

 

Learning Opportunities:

You’ll get the chance to explore real enterprise IT operations from retail systems to monitoring and ticketing tools. You’ll also work hands‑on with Jira and monitoring dashboards, learn key ITIL practices, and get basic exposure to networking, cloud, and automation. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to pick up scripting skills (PowerShell/Bash) and sharpen your troubleshooting techniques.

 

To be considered, you’ll need: 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
  • Basic understanding of: Operating Systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), Networking 
    fundamentals (IP, DNS, connectivity)

 

Soft Skills:

  • Detail-oriented with good documentation habits  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience and empathy when dealing with users
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment

 

Internship Details:

  • Duration: 3 - 6 months (flexible based on university requirements) 
  • Location: Glenmarie, Shah Alam
  • Working Hours: Shift
